Dr. Oscar Nyangiri
Dr. Oscar Nyangiri is a postdoc with the H3Africa TrypanoGEN+ project based in Makerere University, Uganda. This project focuses on human susceptibility to sleeping sickness and Schistosomiasis across Africa. Approaches used include genome wide association studies and family based studies. He has previously worked with the Kenya Medical Research Institute in Kenya in collaboration with the Wellcome Trust, where he attained his PhD on malaria genetic susceptibility from the Open University in UK. In his current role, Dr. Nyangiri has developed expertise in population genetics, next generation sequencing platforms, R , perl and linux while doing human whole genome analysis. He has also contributed to the development of the BRECA bioinformatics curriculum, and closely partners with other similar programmes including H3ABionet and EANBIT.
